In this children's storybook, Maya and her friends (Willy the bee and Flip the grasshopper) and many other insects have a colourful life. There was Mrs. Cassandra, Maya's teacher who teaches Maya the virtues of the bee nation. The book depicts Maya's development from an adventurous, thoughtless youngster to a responsible adult of bee society.

That's nothing special because nearly all cartoons were drawn in Japan. But that doesn't mean that it's automatically Japanese. It might be the work on the pictures itself, but the rest depends on the people who made the story and created the characters and their look.
But from my view, We can call this is Japanese remake work. Cos all of the staff of this animation- Directer, Producer, Character Design, Music, Scenario writer, Editor, Cinematographer, and any other staffs- are all Japanese, and distributed by Japanese company.
Ya, That doesnt mean its automatically Japanese, but such is remake work..But funny, many Euro ppl never noticed the fact for long that this picture was made in Japan!
