Thank you thank you thank you. I was totally obsessed with this documentary (and subsequently Buster Keaton) when it came out in the late 80s. I'm have such a flashback watching it and listening to the music. I recorded it on tape and watched it over and over. Even taught myself the music on the piano.

That all depends. Chaplin was a master, but keaton takes the cake in physical comedy. But I would say the Chaplin is far more than a comedian. He was a genuin artist, and his movies have far more demention than a normal slapstick comedy. He was by far more talented than keaton I would say, but as far as just good ol' slapstick, I'd say Keaton holds the title. But you can never really say who is the best.
If you were to ask both Keaton and Chaplin, they would both say Chaplin was the best
