From what I just briefly read relative to Ron Paul's opposition to reaffirming the civil rights act, he has good reasons for doing so, and one consistent with his stance on either a non-interventionist policy, or Government dictating to people how they should live. ...we do not know all the details, and from posing it as you did, it is easy for one to construe that he is or might be racist. Perhaps should Obama win, and begin showing preferential treatment to the black communities or doling out reparations, the relevance of Ron Paul's opposition to reaffirming H.Res 676; for were either thing to happen, I doubt race relations would be strengthened, and Ron's decision would then be seen as the right one.

Racist comments were written in Paul's newsletter, which he oversaw. I totally disagree with your statement about the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It would open old wounds for Congress to NOT reaffirm the landmark law. Anyway, Paul actually argued that places of business should be able to turn down blacks because of "private property rights." Evidently, Dr. Paul doesn't know that private property rights aren't universal.
