I don't agree 100% with the first poster (particularly the 'fear' remark), the bridge and dumpsite remark wasn't entirely wrong. Though it does overstate 'acid casualties' imo.
I think Hunter S. Thompson touched on it when he stated that Leary created:
"...a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody-or at least some force-is tending the Light at the end of the tunnel."
